Williams deplores the kidnapping of workers from Sharara oilfield

The United Nations deputy representative to Libya, Stephanie Williams denounced on Sunday the kidnapping of the workers of Sharara oil field, west of Ubari city.

During a meeting with the head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustapha Sanalla in Tripoli, Williams called for the immediate release of the abductees without conditions.

Williams stressed that the NOC is the only legitimate and internationally recognized authority to manage the oil and gas sector in Libya.

On July 14, an armed group kidnapped four employees from the Sharara oil field before releasing two of them.
