European Parliament president calls on Europe to invest in Libya

The President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani called on EU countries and institutions to invest in Libya and to strengthen the infrastructure and structure of the Libyan state.

He announced his intention to organize a working day on Libya next October in the Belgian capital of Brussels, pointing out that the security of Libya is the security of Europe.

“The economic recovery is through national reconciliation, which also begins with independent democratic elections,” Tajani said. “We want to coordinate the all efforts for the benefit of this country,” he said according to Italian news agency Aki.

The President of the European Parliament visited Tripoli on Monday in the first visit of an official of the European Union at this level to Libya for years.
