94 migrants rescued and 5 bodies recovered off the coast of Garabulli

A Marine Coast Guard patrol rescued 94 illegal immigrants, including 3 children, 9 women on board a dingy rubber boat and recovered 5 bodies from the sea on Friday.

The Libyan navy spokesperson Ayoub Qassem said the migrants were of different nationalities from Sudan, Nigeria, Chad and Egypt, pointing out that they were in poor condition, because of the rupture of their boat, water leakage and some of them falling into the sea.

He added that the migrants were transferred to Sooq Al-Khamis center after receiving humanitarian and medical assistance.

The rescue operation was 15 miles north of Garabulli.
