301 illegal immigrants rescued off the coast of Garabulli

Libyan Coast guard patrols rescued 301 illegal immigrants off the coast of Garabulli on Thursday.

In a statement to ArraedLG, Navy spokesperson Brigadier General Ayoub Qassem said migrants from 12 African nationalities, including 46 children, and three women were aboard large rubber boats when their engine broke down.

The increase in the number of illegal immigration boats is a matter of “concern,” with the increased number of casualties caused by the use of dilapidated boats and old engines, Qassem said.

The Libyan coastguard on Wednesday retrieved the body of an illegal immigrant and rescued 82 others, off the same coast.
