US Navy rescues 41 migrants and recovers 12 bodies off Libyan coast

A US Navy vessel rescued 41 illegal immigrants and recovered 12 bodies off the coast of Libya, humanitarian group Sea-watch said on Tuesday.

According to Russian news agency Sputnik, the US Navy ship told the German group that 41 people had been rescued and 12 bodies recovered, 20 nautical miles from Libya.

Sputnik said the group went to the site of the rubber boat, adding that the organization has expressed the lack of means of assistance, protection and rescue.

The Libyan naval forces spokesperson, Brigadier General Ayoub Qassem confirmed last Wednesday, that there are suspicious organizations stationed at sea profiting off the suffering of migrants.
