Zuwara Security Directorate foiled on Friday an attempt to smuggle illegal immigrants after they raided a den used by human trafficking gangs to gather migrants before sending them across the sea to Europe.
The Directorate spokesperson, Hafiz Muammar told ArraedLG, they arrested a member of the gang, 139 migrants, 17 of whom are women and two children of African nationalities, as well as three boats with their equipment.
The Zuwara Security Directorate announced last week, it had foiled a similar attempt to smuggle people on their way to Europe.
