The Government of National Accord (GNA) Minister of Transport Milad Matouq said, reconstruction of Tripoli International Airport will begin in June with contribution of Italian companies.
Matouq told Xinhua on Sunday, the Ministry has completed all technical and financial procedures to start the project of reconstructing the airport, adding that a consortium of Italian companies will be the contractor of the project and will begin implementation after the completion of the allocation of the first installment of the agreed value to reconstruct the airport.
Matouq said that the project includes the construction of two passenger halls with an area of 30 thousand square meters, the first passenger terminal for international flights with a capacity of 4.5 million passengers annually, while the second passenger terminal will have a capacity of 2.5 million passengers annually.
He added that the project ensures the reconstruction of airport control towers, air navigation systems, the establishment of an advanced electronic communications and control network, as well as the construction of a parking lot that accommodates nearly 2,000 cars, according to Xinhua.
In July 2017, Ministry of Transport signed a project worth 79 million euros for the reconstruction of Tripoli International Airport.
