Libyan navy spokesperson, Ayoub Qassem said on Thursday, a marine patrol rescued 121 illegal immigrants on board a rubber vessel that broke down.
Qassem told ArraedLG, the immigrants, who arrived in the middle of Wednesday night to Tripoli’s maritime, are different African nationalities, 24 of whom are women and children.
The naval spokesperson said the rescue operation happened 16 miles north of Abu kammash after which, the immigrants were handed over to the Anti-illegal Immigration Agency in Tripoli.
The maritime coast guard continues to rescue illegal immigrants on an ongoing basis.
