Salame: The “political agreement is the solid ground towards reconciliation”

During a meeting with the head of the Presidential Council (PC) in Tripoli, the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame reiterated his commitment to the political agreement as a ground to move towards reconciliation and harmony in the country.

According to the Council’s media office, Salame affirmed his support for the PC and its steps in accordance with the political agreement and the roadmap provisions that lead to presidential and parliamentary elections.

Salame briefed Al-Sarraj on the results of the UN envoy recent contacts and talks with parties in the Libyan political scene.

The UN mission began work in mid-February directly from within its headquarters in Tripoli.
