Erdogan: We support Salame’s efforts and elections in Libya

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his country’s support for the efforts of UN special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame to adopt a constitution and hold elections as soon as possible.

Erdogan said, in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa on Monday, they have encouraged dialogue between the political parties in Libya since 2014, stressing Turkey’s desire to stabilize Libya and achieve peace there.

The Turkish president confirmed the establishment of a team of cooperation with Italy aimed at contributing to the stability in Libya, pointing to the return of the Turkish and Italian embassies to Tripoli.
