The Italian embassy in Libya has denied that a vote by the Italian parliament, on Wednesday was to increase military presence in Libya.
The embassy, on its official Twitter account, described reports about the vote of the Italian parliament to increase the military presence in Libya as “inaccurate information”, stressing that cooperation between Italy and Libya is based on friendship and “full respect” of Libyan sovereignty.
The embassy added that Italy is committed to providing the “necessary” technical assistance; so Libya can strongly confirm its sovereignty.
The House of Representatives (HOR) condemned in a statement on Thursday, the vote of the Italian parliament to send more troops to Libya, describing it as a “violation” to the sovereignty of the country.
