UN mission to Libya: Article 15 of the political agreement, related to filling sovereign leadership positions, obliges the HOR to consult with the Supreme Council of the State first.

On Wednesday, the UN mission stated that Article 15 of the Libyan political agreement requires that the House of Representatives and the the Supreme Council of the State consult before deciding who would occupy any sovereign position in the state.

According to its official twitter account, the mission said, that it learned of the selection of the HOR Central Bank of Libya governor, Mohammed Al-Shukri, but that they want to issue a reminder of the commitment to the provisions of the political agreement in place.

The mission stressed the importance of unifying Libyan institutions, stressing the need to avoid unilateral decisions and the violation of the provisions stated under the political agreement.
