Faiez Al-Sarraj, President of the Presidential Council of the GNA, said that the political agreement expires when the handover of power to an elected body of the people takes place.
On Sunday, Al-Sarraj said in a statement on the second anniversary of the signing of the political agreement that his government is continuing its work, despite some hindrance, of their duty towards the citizens.
He explained that the request of the people will be achieved through the ballot boxes and not through a power grab or military power. He called on the Libyans to take advantage of the “international momentum” of support and what he called “the path of true reconciliation.”
Al- Sarraj renewed his call to the governor of the Central Bank in Tripoli, Al-Sadiq Al-Kabir and the governor of the counterpart Central Bank in Al-Bayda, Ali Al-Habri, to convene an urgent meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank in order to end the division, extract a unified monetary policy and to address the liquidity crisis and support the Libyan dinar.
The 17th of December coincides with the second anniversary of the signing of the political agreement in the city of Skhirat, Morocco between the dialogue committees of the HOR and the National Congress of the time.
