UN envoy Ghassan Salame calls on Libyan parties to refrain from undermining the political process

On Sunday, The head of the United Nations mission in Libya, Ghassan Salame, called on all Libyan parties to refrain from undermining the political process.

In a statement posted on the official website of the mission, Salame urged citizens to register in the elections to deliver their votes, appealing to the Libyan leaders to carry out their tasks to ensure the success of the political process.

The UN envoy said that since the launch of the plan of action they are working to move  Libya to the stage of “certainty” in a stable state, noting that the Libyans are “tired” of the transition between the transitional stages.

Salame stressed that the plan of action was intended to create the right conditions for free and fair elections. Indicating that the United Nations has provided the necessary technical support to the National High Electoral Commission; to find the appropriate political, legislative and security conditions for the elections scheduled before the end of 2018.

The United Nations support mission in Libya launched in a plan of action in September in order  to get out of the Libyan crisis based on the political agreement.
