Supreme Council of the State member Amna Mutair: We welcome the statement of the Security Council and we call on the HOR to pass a law to hold referendum on the constitution

On Saturday, Amna Mutair, a member of the Supreme Council of the State,welcomed the statement of the Security Council, in which they renewed their adherence to the political agreement as the only framework for the solution in Libya.

In a statement Arraed LG, Mutair called on the international community to pressure the House of Representatives to form a committee on the referendum law for the constitution according to the political agreement and based on the principle of participation between the two houses of parliament and the state, in order to end the transitional stage.

She also called on the Presidential Council to bear its responsibilities in providing the daily needs of citizens and enhancing security in the country in order to reduce the spread of crime and maintain order.

Commenting on the position of the Supreme Council of the State on the proposal of the UN mission to amend the political agreement and parallel initiatives, Mutair said that the difference of views within the Council is not divisive. Rather, every member is entitled to  one vote and the majority vote will be the deciding factor.

The Security Council issued a statement on Friday, in which it stressed the continuation of the political agreement as the sole reference in the interim period.
