Political advisor to the President of the Presidential Council Taher Al-Sanni denies that Fayez Al-Sarraj requested US military protection

The political adviser to the president of the presidential council, Taher Al-Sanni, denied allegations published by the Guardian stating that Fayez Al-Sarraj requested a military guarantee from the United States to protect his government in Tripoli.

On Wednesday, Al-Sanni tweeted that the newspaper’s report was “baseless”, stressing that the meeting with President Trump dealt with the issue of combating terrorism and building the Libyan security and military capabilities.

He attributed these allegations to the fact that many did not like the fact that the President of the Presidential Council conducted meetings in Washington.  Al-Sanni called on the Guardian to confirm what was published with the White House.
