Ghassan Salame: The army, the police and the central bank must be unified

The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Ghassan Salame, said that the army, the police, the Central Bank of Libya, and other institutions should be consolidated as soon as possible.

During a meeting with a group of academics and media officials on Wednesday in Tripoli Salame stated that there are dormant institutions that should be revived in order to protect citizens, especially in the economic and social fields. He added that some institutions are hijacked by those who oppose it and that they must be brought back for the sake of the citizen.

The UN envoy Ghassan Salama arrived Wednesday morning in Tripoli to participate in the Electoral Commission announcement to start the registration of voters for the upcoming elections.
