Fayez Al-Sarraj: Libya demanded the management of its frozen assets and was not asking for them to be unfrozen

The President of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj said that Libya demanded the management of its assets frozen abroad, and did not ask for them to be unfrozen. He added that the frozen assets suffered losses and that they are seeking to stop these losses.

During his meeting with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Al-Sarraj stated that his government is planning, in parallel with the interest in oil and gas production, to pay attention to energy, electricity and reconstruction; in addition to the country’s urgent need to develop the infrastructure of state institutions.

Al-Sarraj expressed the interest of the Government of National Accord in making agreements with the US government to encourage, support, and guarantee investment and agreements to avoid double taxation.

For his part, Ross was ready to discuss all the proposals in meetings between officials of the two countries, each in their respective field of competence, stressing that Libya has a real opportunity for growth and development.

Al-Sarraj met US President Donald Trump, the Foreign Secretary, the Defense Minister, and US Treasury Secretary after arriving in Washington on Thursday.
