Fathi Bashaga confirms that the leaders of Misrata accepted Ghassan Salame’s initiative

A member of the House of Representatives, Fathi Bashaga, confirmed that the initiative of the UN envoy Ghassan Salame was accepted by the leaders of Misrata; stressing the need to achieve balance and ensure participation. He described the meeting as being “positive”, contrary to what was promoted by some media and social networking pages.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Bashaga stressed the necessity of ensuring the mission’s commitment to implement Article 16 of the political agreement which was signed in Skhirat at the end of 2015.

Bashaga urged the UN mission to prepare for the convening of the national conference of national reconciliation, holding elections, and the completion of the constitution. He also noted the poor humanitarian conditions, the poor living conditions, and the deteriorating economic situation in Libya.
