Libyan-American Friendship Association is surprised by Libya being accused of slave trade

On Saturday, the Libyan-American Friendship Association said that it was surprised by Libya being accused of conducting slave trade in a report broadcast by CNN.

The association warned in a statement released of the “serious” consequences of accusing Libya of this phenomenon and the consequent “interventions” in Libyan affairs by states, organizations and external parties, according to the Libyan News Agency.

The association pointed out that the publication of such reports could cause “strong and wide [spread]” reactions at the regional and international levels; fueling local and international public opinion. The organization stressed their renewed desire to work for the development of friendly relations and cooperation between Libya and the United States.
