The UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) will soon be announcing the end of the battle against ISIS in Sirte, said Presidential Council (PC) spokesperson Ashraf Tulty on Monday.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous forces have achieved major objectives in their fight “against what (is) so called the Islamic State in Sirte,” said Tulty in his statement.

The Libyan forces have been working to carefully remove all mines and explosives, as well as recovering corps from the areas that ISIS occupied, said Tulty as he praised the work of the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous troops.

The PC’s spokesperson also mentioned that there has been full cooperation between the GNA and the operations centre for the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous forces, who will soon be announcing the victory in Sirte.

In response to the recent attack on an oil facility in Libya’s Oil Crescent region, Tulty re-emphasized the statement the GNA had made denouncing the claims that it had any involvement in the attack.

Libya is in a very difficult situation and the Oil Crescent region is a sensitive region for every Libyan as it represents the majority of the nation’s wealth, explained Tulty. He further emphasized that political tension must be kept away from that region to avoid clashes that can hinder the revival of Libya’s oil industry.
