Early Tuesday morning the forces of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) faced difficult clashes between the, so-called, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in the battle to gain control over Sirte.
GNA fighters twice attempted to flee the battle scene against ISIS on the eastern front as the clashes intensified. The government backed fighters were eventually able to flee using the darkness of the pre-sunrise sky as cover.
After fleeing the main battle scene the GNA forces successfully ambushed the ISIS fighters that were attempting to catch up with the GNA forces using light and medium sized weapons.
10 bodies of ISIS fighters were discovered after the clashes were over, while the rest of the ISIS fighters fled before they could be captured.
Minor injuries were the only reported casualties for the GNA fighters.
