On Thursday, the head of the committee to amend the political agreement in the Supreme Council of State, Musa Faraj, opposed removing Article 8 of the political agreement.
Faraj told Agence France-Presse that they were not surprised by the plan of action of the UN envoy Ghassan Salame; stressing the Supreme State’s refusal to remove Article 8 which assigns the duties of the supreme commander of the army to the presidency of the Presidential Council.
As well a member of the House of Representatives for #Benghazi, Abu Bakr Baira, stated that UN envoy Ghassan Salame’s plan is a step in the right direction.
In a statement to Agence France-Presse Baira stated that one of the conditions listed in the plan necessitates that the House of Representatives holds a non-biased session with quorum. He highlighted that the House of Representatives did not hold a non-biased meeting with quorum for over a year.
