On Monday, the leadership of Operation Sophia announced in a statement the creation of a training program for Coast Guard personnel, in cooperation with #Italy.
Operation Sophia’s leadership mentioned that 87 Libyan navy personnel would be trained in navigation techniques, international human rights law and asylum procedures.
They added that the training is aimed at raising the capacity of the Coast Guard, enhancing security in Libyan territorial waters, training in search and rescue operations, as well as combating smugglers and human trafficking.
