#Government #Libya #News – The Italian Red Cross requests that Libyan authorities help those who decide to emigrate

On Thursday, the head of the Italian Red Cross, Francesco Rocca, stated that the decision of the Libyan authorities to prevent NGOs from rescuing migrants in Libyan territorial waters as being contrary to international law.

Rocca stated, after his meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, that the search and rescue area imposed by the Libyan Coast Guard extends beyond Libyan waters and into international waters, and thus, it is a violation of international law- according to the agency Franz Press.

Rocca told the Libyan authorities: You can not stop people from feeling desperate, you have to provide safe pathways and the necessary information for those who decide to leave.
