General Khalifa Haftar is reportedly furious at Martin Kobler, the UN envoy to Libya, for “meddling” in Libyan politics.
The accusation came out in an interview that was released on Monday by Al-Ahram, an Egyptian state newspaper.
Haftar said that “Kobler is meddling in very sensitive issues” by supposedly calling for a meeting between the two “to discuss the makeup of the Libyan army.”
According to Haftar, The Libyan capital Tripoli has been “hijacked” by armed groups.
The House of Representatives (HoR), the eastern-based parliament that supports Haftar, has yet to give the GNA its vote of confidence.
Haftar’s forces took control over Libya’s main oil ports after they ambushed the GNA-loyal Petroleum Facilities Guard last week.
