ISIS militants carried out three suicide car bombs targeting Albinyan Almarsos (Operation Strong Foundation) forces on Sunday in the coastal city of Sirte.

The operation room’s media bureau announced that one of the car bombs went off near a field hospital in the west of Sirte.

Three people killed during the suicide attack on the hospital and over seven were injured. The wounded were sent to the hospital in Misrata to receive treatment.

General Mohamed al-Ghasri, a spokesman for the military, said that ISIS fighters had attacked forces loyal to the unity government with bombs hidden in an ambulance and two other vehicles.

“They aimed to shake our ranks, to force us to retreat, but we remain steadfast,” Ghasri said. “We are determined to finish the job before the end of the holy month of Ramadan,” which ends in early July.

He said the attackers “infiltrated our siege” of the extremist group’s stronghold and targeted medical units and supply lines.

Libyan forces have been repeatedly targeted by ISIS suicide attacks, mines, and snipers since entering Sirte this week.

Ghasri also said that ISIS militants have moved into a populated area in the center of Sirte and their snipers have been taking positions on rooftops to target Libyan troops.

In addition, on Sunday the Libyan air force carried out four airstrikes targeting locations where ISIS fighters stored their weapons and ammunition.
