Unity government forces took control of the Al-Saadi military camp in southern Sirte after heavy clashes with ISIS militants on Sunday, which killed three soldiers and wounded 20.

The Libyan army was able to capture the military base after heavy clashes with ISIS militants in the vicinity of the military camp along Jufra road on Sunday.

The wounded soldiers were sent to Misrata Central Hospital after Operation Strong Foundation forces closed in on ISIS fighters inside Sirte.

The operations media bureau also reported that the Libyan air force conducted five airstrikes targeting ISIS locations, including on an airstrip in the vicinity of the 17th and western region of sirte.

Reportedly a top Libyan commander, Omar AL-Hasson, from the 166 Brigade was among the casualties on sunday, as Libyan forces captured the Al-Saadi military camp.

Libyan forces battling ISIS in the west captured the Al-Gurdabiyah air base on Saturday, 20 kilometres from the center of Sirte, which cut off ISIS supply routes and trapped them deeper into the city.
