US Ambassador: We support efforts to restore momentum to the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, affirmed on Tuesday his country’s support for efforts to restore momentum to the presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya, after they were postponed in December.

Norland stressed, during his meeting with the President of the Supreme Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, his country’s support for any process that would give the Libyans the strong and unified elected government they deserve, according to the US embassy’s Twitter account.

For his part, Al-Mishri said that about 3 million Libyans are ready to vote, and that intensive efforts with the House of Representatives are to agree quickly on a road map that would give the public confidence that the elections will take place as soon as possible.

It is worth noting that member of the Road Map Committee formed by the House of Representatives, Suleiman al-Faqih, said, in a statement to Arraed on Tuesday, that the committee will hold its second meeting today with the Supreme Council of State in Tripoli; to discuss the constitutional process.
