French Senator “Angel Breville”: calls for facilitating trade relations with Libya.

The French Senator and President of the French-Libyan Friendship Group “Angel Breville” called for the need to strengthen the development of commercial relations of French companies with Libya.

In a statement to the French “Actu Lot” website, Breville said on Wednesday that it had intervened in the problems that resulted from the absence of a French consulate in Tripoli last December, noting that “bureaucracy” impeded the development of Libyan-French relations, she said.

Breville added that France reopened its embassy in Tripoli in March, but the consular section is still in Tunisia, noting that public and private Libyan companies are seeking to obtain technical expertise of French companies in various sectors, however, the Libyan partner who seeks to obtain a work visa for France, he has to go to Tunisia, leave his passport there for two weeks, and then return to pick it up.

Breville indicated that Libyan businessmen prefer to pass through the Italian consulate in Tripoli, where they obtain a visa within two days, which deprives France of these opportunities.

“Our country is full of big companies that can help rebuild Libya, which is what we all demand,” Breville said. However, France is losing market share to its Italian, German, Turkish and Chinese competitors.
