The Public Prosecutor orders the imprisonment of an “instigator” of the electricity workers’ strike and a bank employee who embezzled more than 1.5 million dinars.

The Public Prosecutor, Al-Siddiq Al-Soor, ordered the imprisonment of the perpetrator of the act of inciting employees of the Electricity Company to quit their jobs pending investigation, after investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The Attorney General’s Office stressed, on Wednesday, the necessity of reprimanding this act because of the harm it poses to the public interest, and a danger to all walks of life, the consequences of which may be irreversible.

In another decision, the Public Prosecutor ordered, in a statement, on Wednesday, the provisional detention of one of the employees of the Al Jumhouriya Bank, on charges of embezzling an amount of one million and 800 thousand dinars from a customer’s account in the bank, and transferring it to bank accounts belonging to her family and withdrawing it in cash after that.

The Public Prosecutor also ordered, against the backdrop of closing the doors of one of Al Jumhouriya bank branches in the face of customers, to imprison the perpetrator of the act of incitement and encouragement to quit work, and to lock the doors pending investigation as a precaution.

In a related context, the Public Prosecutor decided to interrogate a number of employees who neglected to perform their job duties by giving up the keys to access the system in favor of the accused and their refusal to report the criminal incident to the police authorities, and ordered their precautionary detention pending investigation.
