Parliament: “Dbaiba” statements are an insult to Libyan women, and it is not surprising that they came from him.

On Thursday, the House of Representatives’ Youth, Labor and Social Affairs Committee called on presidential candidate Abdul Hamid Dbaiba to apologize to Libyan women for his recent statements, considering them an insult to them as a “commodity” for marriage.

In a statement issued by the committee, the committee condemned the irresponsible comments made by Dbaiba, saying that “it is not surprising that they came from him, as he violated his moral commitment when he nominated himself as prime minister of the national unity government at the Geneva Dialogue Forum.”

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbaiba had addressed his words – during the ceremony of distributing the cheques of the second batch of the marriage support grant – to single women of advanced age, saying, “Our single girls who advanced in age we should make them a more attractive project,…by raising salaries, especially for older women.”
