Interior Minister Khalid Mazen discussed with the Chairman and members of the 5 + 5 Committee the latest developments and security arrangements to secure the coastal road, and developed a plan to secure the road extending from the Al Heisha area to Al Jufra.
The meeting, which was attended by Major General Ahmed Abu Shahma, Major General Mukhtar al-Naqasa, Major General Mustafa Yahya, Major General Radwan al-Gharari, Major General Ali al-Nuwaisri, Director of the General Department of Security Operations and a member of the Security Arrangements Committee, dealt with the ongoing campaign to remove remnants of war and mines on the coastal road, by the military engineering team, in addition to discussing the provision required for the success of the work.
The meeting discussed everything required to establish three fixed security points in order to secure the public road and maintain the security and safety of citizens.
The Minister of Interior affirmed his full support for the work of the Military Committee, and the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to providing all requirements of manpower and other equipment to ensure the success of the process of securing the road, which extends for a distance of more than 200 km.
It is worth noting that the Military Committee announced, last June, the opening of the coastal road, two years after it was closed.
