The Gulf Cooperation Council calls on all Libyan parties to give priority to the national interest.

The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Nayef Al-Hajraf, renewed his call on all Libyan parties to give priority to national interests and work to achieve security and stability in Libya.

Al-Hajraf expressed his regret that the elections were not held on December 24, stressing the keenness of the GCC states to support the efforts of the United Nations to reach a political solution to achieve security and stability in Libya and the region.

The Secretary-General stressed the guarantee of Libya’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, stopping interference in its internal affairs, the exit of all foreign forces and mercenaries from the country and supporting efforts to combat the terrorist organization “ISIS”.

It is worth noting that the Electoral Commission announced last week the postponement of the elections, proposing January 24 next year as a new date for holding them.
