German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed her country’s concern over the postponement of the Libyan presidential elections, which were scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday.
Baerbock added, during a meeting with Luxembourg Foreign Minister, Jen Asselborn, that the postponement of the elections was looming in the past weeks, noting that there are some legal issues that still need to be clarified, according to the German “Deutsche Welle” agency.
Baerbock stressed the close cooperation with the United Nations in order to find this clarification quickly so that the elections can be held in the country.
It is worth noting that the Electoral Commission announced that the presidential elections could not be held on their scheduled date, December 24; due to force majeure, and submitted a proposal to postpone it to January 24, 2022.
