Amnesty International: Libyan authorities must address pre-election abuses.

The Libyan authorities must address the numerous abuses that have characterized the lead-up to the elections, Amnesty International said Wednesday.

The organization added in a statement published on its website, on Wednesday, that the Libyan authorities and those in control of the ground must ensure that all candidates, voters, activists and politicians are protected from violence and threats to ensure that any future elections are held.

The organization stated that the Libyan authorities should use the opportunity to postpone the elections to break the cycle of impunity and ensure the exclusion of those suspected of crimes under international law.

The organization said that Saif Gaddafi is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, which is why it calls repeatedly for his extradition to the International Court.

According to the organization, it has widely documented the war crimes committed by Haftar’s militias during their attempt to control Tripoli, as well as the national unity government against immigrants and refugees.
