US Embassy: We will continue our support for Libyans to hold free and fair elections.

The US Embassy in Libya said that the United States will continue to engage with Libyan institutions and leaders with the aim of holding peaceful, free, fair, and inclusive presidential and parliamentary elections.

The embassy added in a statement regarding Ambassador Norland’s visit to Tripoli and his meeting with several officials that Washington supports the right of the vast majority of Libyans who want elections and vote for the future of their country.

Ambassador Norland said that they do not support any particular candidate, but they do support the electoral process, noting that he met with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbaiba to discuss key Libyan issues in the context of the election campaign, according to the statement.

The embassy noted that the ambassador concluded his visit to Tripoli by attending the delivery of nearly 1.2 million doses of the “Pfizer” vaccine within the framework of the “Kofax” initiative.
