Member of Parliament, Bashir Al-Ahmar, said in a statement to Arraed on Sunday that most members of Parliament are now in the process of preparing a memorandum and statement directed to the United Nations and the UN mission; To urge them not to go too far and interfere in the internal Libyan affairs.
Al-Ahmar added that preparing the election law is an authentic work of the House of Representatives, and the UN mission has no right to interfere or recommend some articles or laws.
Al-Ahmar considered that the mission’s statement aims to “pass some personalities who do not meet the conditions,” in particular its demand to remove the condition that the candidate quit his position three months before the electoral process.
Al-Ahmar explained that most of the amendments submitted by the commission were approved, with the exception of one article that was rejected, which is the “electronic voting” process; To reduce fraud, and we will not allow this.
It is worth noting that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya called, in a statement on Saturday, for the removal of restrictions imposed on participation in the elections to allow Libyans holding public positions the opportunity to freeze their duties from the time they submit their candidacy for the presidential elections, as proposed by the High National Elections Commission.
