Sources in the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Energy said that its total exports to Libya amounted to 772 gigawatts per hour from January 2020 to February 2021.
The sources added – in statements to the Egyptian Al Mal economic newspaper – on Wednesday that Egyptian exports witnessed a significant increase in 2020 by nearly 676 gigawatts per hour, pointing out that the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity is close to completing studies on raising the voltage of the interconnection line between the two countries from 220 to 500 kilovolts. , to increase its capacity to about 2000 megawatts.
The sources indicated that the Ministry of Electricity increased the lines in the Matrouh area; In preparation for the interconnection steps and to strengthen the networks on the western side.
It is worth noting that Libya ranks first as the most importing country for energy from Egypt, followed by Sudan.
