Bakeries Follow-up Committee: The closure of bakeries is inevitable unless the state intervenes.

The head of the Higher Committee for the Follow-up of Bakeries, Ali Abu Azza, said in a statement to Arraed on Sunday that the decision to close bakeries is inevitable unless the state intervenes to find solutions regarding prices.

Abu Azza explained that they haven’t received anything concrete answers from the state, and so far there is no interest in the problem of rising flour prices, calling at the same time to stabilize the prices of materials used in the manufacture of bread, and to set new prices for bread.

Abu Azza was surprised by the state’s disregard for this dangerous file, stressing that flour prices are still in the hands of merchants, and they are constantly rising, as the quintal of flour increased by 15 dinars within 3 days.

It is worth noting that the head of the Bakers Union, Abu Khurais Mohamed, explained in a statement to Arraed that there is no control from the state, the Ministry of Economy, or any specific party over the process of selling flour from mills, whether public or private, noting that the price of a quintal of flour is now 216 LD, while a month ago it was 180 LD.
