The Attorney General ordered the detention of the accused in the case of suffocation of 64 citizens; As a result of inhaling chlorine gas in the Qawarsha area in Benghazi, they were held as procaution , pending invistigation; For committing the crime of endangering public safety, and buying things without verifying the validity of their source.

According to the official page of the Attorney General’s Office, the Attorney General commissioned the forensic doctor to prepare a forensic report on the cases as soon as their health check was completed, and directed its proscutors to continue conducting the investigation and prosecuting the perpetrators of the cylinder theft crime.

The Attorney General’s Office revealed that the investigations resulted in the theft of chlorine gas cylinders from inside the water purification and treatment headquarters located in the Qawarsha area by the perpetrators who deliberately disposed of the cylinders and sold them to persons engaged in the sale and purchase of metal waste.

It is worth noting that the Benghazi Medical Center received, on the 29th of September , 25 cases of chlorine gas poisoning from the Qawarsha area, among them children, women, men and the elderly people in very bad condition, and they suffer from various symptoms.
