A member of the Military Committee 5 + 5 Major General “Al-Fituri Ghribeel” said that he is optimistic about the start of gradually removing mercenaries from Libya as soon as possible, wishing the implementation of the first stage before the start of the elections.
“Ghribeel” added, in statements to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, that they want to hold elections without (mercenaries), stressing that the deportation of mercenaries will not be easy, and it will start with the deportation of “simple numbers, perhaps a hundred or two hundred from each side every week,” noting that there are fears of exploding of the operation; Due to the fear of each side of the withdrawal of the elements loyal to it, as he put it.
“Ghribeel” expected that the operation would take place in two stages, the first involving the withdrawal of Russian, Syrian and Janjaweed mercenaries, and all foreign nationalities in the line of contact, and then the second step, which is “the withdrawal of foreign forces, Turks, Russians and Europeans, who are few in number, and removing them is easier than removing the mercenaries.”
It is worth noting that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced, in October 2020, that the Libyan parties, under the auspices of the United Nations, reached a ceasefire and began withdrawing mercenaries from Libya, according to the meetings of the 5 + 5 Military Committee.
