Egypt and the United States agree on the importance of holding elections in Libya on schedule.

During their meeting on Wednesday in Cairo, Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah El-Sisi and US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stressed the importance of holding elections in Libya on their scheduled date next December.

El-Sisi and Sullivan agreed to intensify joint coordination between the two countries and with international partners regarding arrangements related to the upcoming elections in Libya, according to the official page of the Egyptian presidency.

During the meeting, El-Sisi reiterated the importance that Egypt attaches to the success of the political track, the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, and the unification of its military and security institutions.

It is worth noting that US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is on a tour of the Arab region that will include Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
