The Supreme Council of the State calls on the Presidential council, in its capacity as Supreme Commander of the Army, to put an end to Haftar’s violations.

The Supreme Council of State demanded that the Presidential Council, being the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, need to put an end to Haftar’s “serious” violations, the last of which was the parade of the militias outside the legitimacy.

In a statement on Saturday, the Council called on the Supreme Commander of the Army to play its role in establishing a ceasefire and to begin unifying the military institution according to a pure national belief.

The council said, “Whenever the Libyans approach a comprehensive political settlement, or are on the cusp of a new democratic experiment, Haftar shows escalatory behavior and signals of waving force and the language of weapons.”

The Council explained that Haftar’s actions reflect a feverish desire to seize power by force, even if the price is exorbitantly high, such as what happened in the parade, calling on the international community to abandon the policy of double standards and stop siding with Haftar, and work only with legitimate bodies and official authorities.

It is reported that Haftar held, on Saturday, a military parade of his militia without permission from the Presidential Council, the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army at the “Benina” base, which ended with the fall of a MiG-21 warplane and the killing of its pilot.
