Kubiş: Unless the perpetrators and violators of human rights are held accountable, there will be no stability in Libya.

The UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, said Friday that unless the perpetrators and violators of human rights are held accountable, there will be no stability in the country, stressing that the continued use of thousands of mercenaries and foreign fighters and their presence and activities represents a threat to Libya and the region.

During his speech to the Security Council, Kubis explained that the delay of reopening of the coastal road between Sirte and Misurata and the failure to start the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries, fighters and foreign forces, cemented the division of Libya, pointing out that they continue to support the Libyan government to achieve national reconciliation, transitional justice and conduct elections.

It is worth noting that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio “Guterres,” confirmed Thursday, in a report to the UN Security Council, that foreign fighters and mercenaries returned to their original sites in Sirte after their withdrawal from it to hold a session of representatives to ratify the government.
