Erdogan: Egypt and Turkey are starting a new era, and we seek to restore a historic union between the two countries.

Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that his country has started a new era with Egypt, and that it is seeking to restore its historical union with it.

In a press statement, Erdogan added, “There are historical ties with Egypt that we must preserve,” explaining that the negotiations at the beginning were with the intelligence services, then the foreign affairs, and we will continue the path, according to Turkish media.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian and Turkish deputy foreign ministers held talks on Wednesday and Thursday in Cairo, accompanied by a delegation from the two countries, the first talks of their kind after eight years of estrangement between the two countries.
