Sawan urges the UN mission to play its role and not wait for the current bodies.

On Monday, the Chairman of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, urged the UN Support Mission in Libya to play its role, and to help the official bodies and not only wait for the existing political bodies to play their role alone.

During his meeting with the head of the mission, “Jan Kubis” at the party’s headquarters in Tripoli, Sawan stressed that holding general presidential elections and choosing a president by direct election is an important step to unify the country and unify its institutions, in addition to the parliamentary elections, praising the mission’s role in reaching the Geneva Agreement.

The party leader considered that the conditions are very appropriate to push the political process after this consensus, and focus on following up the necessary requirements to reach the completion of the presidential and parliamentary elections on the scheduled date of December 24th.

In the same context, Sawan Deputy for Political Affairs and Relations Nizar Kawan stressed the need to complete the amendment of the sovereign positions, according to what was agreed upon in the Road Map, and to maintain the active role of the dialogue team to overcome any bottlenecks or delays related to the implementation of the Road Map.

For his part, “Kubis” reiterated his emphasis on the importance of pushing for the completion of the upcoming elections on time, and cooperating with the political parties in the country, among the most important of which – according to him – the Justice and Construction Party to achieve this, and his desire to see the party’s vision regarding the constitutional and electoral path. The party’s efforts and the support it provided towards the success of the dialogue process and the formation of a unified executive authority.

It is worth noting that the Chairman of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, stressed – in a dialogue through the application of “Club House” – early last April, the need to take real steps now, in the direction of holding elections; In order not to find ourselves unable to conduct it next December.
