“Kubis”, accompanied by Libyan officials, stresses the importance of holding the elections on time.

On Wednesday, the special envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, stressed during his meeting with high-ranking Libyan officials, including Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush, to expedite the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the roadmap approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, stressing the importance of holding the elections on time.

Kubis discussed with al-Manqoush the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries without delay, as requested by the United Nations Security Council, and they agreed to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and Libya.

Kubis also welcomed the establishment of the High Commission for National Reconciliation during his meeting with the Presidential Council deputies Abdullah Al-Lafi and Mussa Al-Kouni, stressing the implementation of the roadmap approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum and the ceasefire agreement and preparations for the national elections on December 24.

It is worth noting that the special envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis said at the beginning of this April that not holding the elections as scheduled at the end of this year would represent a “disappointment for the Libyan people.”
