The Council of Elders and Notables of Murzuq held the government responsible for the delay in imposing security in the area and securing the borders, following the ongoing events in Chad.
The council said – in a statement – Saturday, that the waves of displacement from Chad began towards “Umm Al-Alaranib and Murzuq” and that the city and its environs are outside the scope of the Libyan state, noting that a group of Chadian opposition went out into the depths of the country of Chad with ease with the participation and support of those who claim to protect the Southern borders.
It is reported that the country of Chad is witnessing security tensions and clashes between government forces and rebels with external support, which resulted in the death of Chadian President Idriss Debi.
