After Saudi Arabia announced the ban on Lebanese imports… the Lebanese President calls on the security services to tighten control over drug smuggling.

On Monday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun called for emphasis on security services in combating drugs. After Saudi Arabia banned Lebanese imports after seizing a shipment of drugs hidden inside a shipment of fruits coming from Lebanon.

In a related context, the head of the caretaker government, Hassan Diab, said in statements reported by “BBC” Arabic that Lebanon stands ready to combat drugs and smuggling operations.

Diab indicated that the embargo on Lebanese products will not stop smuggling operations, but rather cooperation must be made to stop these networks, which is what Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries know.

It is reported that the volume of fruit and vegetable trade between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia amounts to 24 million dinars annually.

It is worth noting that, during the past two days, the Saudi authorities stopped a shipment of pomegranate fruits, which contained the narcotic “Captagon” pills.
